What are the laws that apply to foreigners in Mexico?

In Mexico, foreign nationals are subject to Mexican law while they are in the country. Foreigners in Mexico are also subject to the provisions of international treaties and conventions to which Mexico is a party, such as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.

Foreigners in Mexico have the right to the protection of the Mexican state and are entitled to the same legal rights and obligations as Mexican citizens, including the right to own property and enter into contracts. However, there are certain areas of law, such as immigration and property law, in which foreigners may be subject to different rules and regulations.

Generally, it is recommended that foreigners in Mexico seek legal counsel if they have any questions or concerns about their rights and obligations under Mexican law. An attorney can provide guidance on the applicable laws and regulations and help ensure that a foreign national's rights are protected while they are in Mexico.
